Religious organizations should hold no special status in this country that exempts them from paying taxes. They are no different from any other for-profit business.
Every single founding father would disagree with such taxation. Do your homework on what made this country the world power. And find out what beliefs were the foundations of this country. You will quickly change your mind here.
More like your lack of understanding of history. Try reading some of the writings of the founding fathers to get an idea on their thoughts on religion. Woodmantech is right and you are not.
If "every" Founding Father had held such deep religious convictions and had intended for this country to be founded upon such principles, they would have put it in the Constitution, front and center. However, the First Amendment bars all laws “respecting an establishment of religion” and protects “the free exercise thereof.”
Key founders such as James Madison and Thomas Jefferson opposed mixing church and state. Many of the Founding Fathers were deists. The notion that this nation was founded upon religious (specifically Christian) principles, is an unsubstantiated one. They would have never supported the corruption that exists in the churches of today. Religious institutions have no constitutional right to an exemption from taxation.
