Supreme Court Should Avoid Conflicts of Interests

Unlike the lower courts, Supreme Court judges do not have to recuse themselves from cases where there is a conflict of interest. This has weakened the credibility of the courts as justice's Scalia's personal relationship with Dick Cheney and Thomas' wife's financial gain could have can influence their judgement on past and upcoming cases that affect the American people, respectively. To maintain confidence in the highest court in the land, the appearance of favoritism must be avoided at all costs. Though it is each Justice's duty to determine the possible conflict of interest that might confront them for a particular, it should be required that reviews be conducted when evidence of any possible conflict of interest arises.
