Congressional Term Limits

Limit Senatorial terms to two six-year terms or fifteen years (in the style of Presidential term limits, two four-year terms or ten years) and Representative terms to five two-year terms or eleven years.

Term limits are a bad idea because wealthy interests can field endless numbers of corrupt candidates whereas principled high integrity candidates are rarer. The term limit forces voters to send the principled candidates packing regardless. Arguments that it limits the time for officials to "build a relationship" with corrupting influences are invalid. How long does it take to get hired? Answer: Not long at all. Many job interviews lead to on-the-spot hiring.

But on the other side, it will make sure that Congress as a whole cannot become someone's job. It will make sure that our elected officials are there to actually do their job and represent the people, not plot and scheme how they're going to please the high-paying people who will get them elected again so they can keep their cushy seat.

I believe term limits are a good idea. We need to get more citizens involved in the Senate and House. I would suggest only two terms for the House and two for the Senate. Will fewer terms, our representatives may be less influenced, especially in the last term, if they plan to go home.

Hello,I am a first year volunteer with SWITCH, but I am in the sencod year of my program. I was hoping to do one shift on the Outreach team before volunteering on the clinical team. However, I am having troubles finding shifts open for the Outreach team. Am I allowed to sign up for the clinical team as a first shift or do I have to volunteer with the Outreach team first?Michelle T.

Lets give some consideration to lifetime service limits, instead of term limits.
